January 23 - GAS Light Square

This show will feature songs from the Great American Songbook (GAS) featuring Joel Palmer, Josh Davis, Annie Capps and Jo Serrapere.  GAS
is a term referring to the interrelated music of Broadway theatre, musical theatre, Hollywood musicals, and so-called Tin Pan Alley, for a period from the 1920s to 1960 with the emerging dominance of rock and roll. Including dozens or hundreds of songs of enduring popularity, the Great American songbook also became (and remains) a vital part of the repertoire of jazz musicians, who describe such songs simply as "jazz standards".

There will be no opening performer for this show.  A
dmission for this show is $12, seniors and those under 18 are $10.

February 20 - Josh White Jr.

Josh White, Jr., became, a 'hit' literally over night at the age of four, by performing with his legendary father Josh White one night at New York's famed "Café Society" night club. Playing secular, folk, blues, pop and jazz, Josh is well known for being a vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, actor, concert performer, recording artist, teacher and social activist. He was named the "Voice of The Peace Corps" and "Voice of VISTA" by the US Government in 1980.

"...White has the harmonic finesse of a jazz performer, and his style is still one of the most recognizable and polished sounds in all folk music." - Philadelphia Inquirer

Opening performer to be announced.  Admission for this show is $15, seniors and those under 18 are $13.

March 27 - Michael Johnson

Michael started playing at age 13 and just never quit!  Singing, playing, writing and recording are the only things that he's ever done.  His music shows a diversity, depth and heart that only comes from years of dedication.  Michael often performs alone and has elevated the art.  He prefers the intimacy and spontaneity of a change that can change with the moment.  When asked what he would like you to know about himself, Michael says "Tell them I love it."

"Besides being an impeccable vocalist, Johnson is also a classically trained guitarist and his fancy finger picking is evident everywhere" - Music City News

Opener to be announced.  Admission for this show is $12, seniors and those under 18 are $10.

April 24 - Sing Along with Matt Watroba

This is the Michigan kick-off of the Sing Out Community Choir. All the great things you expect from Matt Watroba plus a healthy dose of community singing featuring songs from Rise Up Singing. Matt hopes to lead 10,000 voices across the country in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Sing Out! Magazine and of Pete Seeger, who help co-found the magazine. This will be a celebration of music and community.

Matt Watroba's obvious love of folk music will be evident during this performance.  His excellent guitar playing, mellow voice, friendship with his audience, and special brand of humor will make for an entertaining and enlightening evening.

Opening performer to be announced.  Admission for this show is $12, seniors and those under 18 are $10.

May 15 - Laurence Juber

MAMA's Coffeehouse and the Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society are excited to present Laurence Jubar.  Laurence got his "big break" when Paul McCartney picked him to be his lead guitarist for the Wings.  After the band folded, he embarked on a career as a solo artist, composer and arranger, and soon developed a reputation as a world-class guitar virtuoso, being voted #1 by Fingerstyle Guitar magazine.  Laurence has recorded over 20 albums, over 80 recordings with others and has composed music for stage, television and movies.

"He gloriously articulates the melodies and never succumbs to show-off playing. But the notes spin out of the songs with such finesse and musical agility, it's hard to believe he has only 10 fingers and six strings..." - San Francisco Chronicle

Opening performer to be announced.  Admission for this show will be $15, seniors and those under 18 are $13.
